Dear Members,
 
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our dear friend, Senator Karen Mayne. A tireless advocate for the west side, she spent years championing our community in the Utah State Senate. Karen and her late husband, Ed Mayne, both born and raised on the west side, were honored with the 2017 ChamberWest Hall of Fame Award in recognition of their unwavering service to our business community and families. During the ceremony, she reflected, “Serving in the Senate is an honor, and the reward is serving my friends and neighbors. The people on the west side have captured my heart—they embrace everything that makes a community great. We are a lucky bunch.” Her leadership, dedication, and love for our community will be sorely missed.

• Annual Awards Gala – August 28^th(SOLD OUT):  We are excited to recognize Rick Clasby of the Utah Trucking Association as our 2024 Hall of Fame Award recipient.  Senator Wayne Harper will also receive our first Legislator of the Year Award.  Additionally, we’ll honor three finalists in four categories during this Oscar-style event:

• Leadership Institute Program:  Applications for the 2024/2025 Leadership Institute Program are still available with just a few seats remaining.  If you have a strong or up-and-coming leader in your organization, consider enrolling them in this highly acclaimed 10-month program beginning September 18-19.  For details and applications, visit CW Leadership Institute.  This program is limited to 30 participants with a maximum of two per organization per year.   Scholarships are available for nonprofits and small business with fewer than 10 employees.  
• Women in Business Nine & Dine Golf Scramble – September 11^th:  Whether you’re new to golf or a seasoned player, join us for a relaxed 9-hole scramble from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm.  Come as a single or bring a friend and we’ll place you in a foursome or bring your own foursome.  Golf pros will be on hand throughout the course offering tips.  Register at:  WIB Nine n’ Dine – 9-Hole Golf Scramble.
• Professional Development Luncheon Series – September 17^th: Register now for our luncheon with Matt Maass, Director of Utah Department of Transportation – Division of Aeronautics will present on Skyward Innovations:  The Future of Transportation and Delivery with Air Taxis and Drone Technology.  Attendees will learn about expected market trends, economic advantages, and the broader implications for industries and society.  Learn more and register at:  September PDS Luncheon.
• Annual Fall Business Conference – November 13^th:   Mark your calendars and join us for the 7^th Annual Business Conference featuring keynote speakers Robert Spendlove and Boyd Matheson.  Enjoy networking, engaging sessions, and informative presentations on the latest industry trends.  breakfast and lunch, and lively conversation, participants will be able to select from six breakout session topics.
